What is the difference between translation and interpretation?

Why do I need to have documents translated?
Because today your consumers are in Argentina as well as in Albany.  Because your company is expanding abroad.  Because one in five U.S. residents speaks a language other than English at home.  Because people everywhere prefer companies that speak their language.

Because if you don’t do it, your competitors will.

How will I know if the translation is accurate and correct?

We do not translate documents of a personal nature (birth, death and marriage certificates; school transcripts, etc.).  Local organizations that perform this work exist in most communities.

Why can’t translation software or a machine translate my documents?
To put it simply, because machines still aren’t as smart as human beings.  All our translations are done by skilled, native speakers of the language (also known as the target language) who know how to avoid cultural misunderstandings while capturing and maintaining the nuances in the original text.

Here is a phrase translated from English to Spanish and back to English by a free automated on-line service:

Translate English-to-Spanish: Country Music Hall of Fame

Translation: El Vestíbulo de la Música Country de la Fama

Translate again Spanish-to-English:

Translation: The Vestibule of the Country Music of the Fame

This may be good for a laugh, but it’s not good for business.  Call P & L Translations for translations that communicate your message the way you intended: 615.594.8670.
